Shira Potash, head of Sprouts Nutrition, is a certified nutritional educator, chef, and writer. She also serves as a Nutrition Education Cooking Coordinator in public schools, where she teaches nutrition-based cooking classes to elementary school children, helping them to love fruits and vegetables and make healthy choices in their lives.
In her private nutrition practice, Shira works one-on-one with clients of all ages to guide them towards optimum health. She recognizes that one size does not fit all -- her approach is individualized and non-judgmental.
Shira received her certification from Bauman College of Holistic Nutrition and Culinary Arts in Berkeley, California. She has studied holistic health and nutrition for over ten years and has been a wellness consultant for Bay Area retailers such as Elephant Pharm and Bristol Farms. She also has experience as a chef and demo coordinator for health food stores, helping to put on nutrition events, taste fairs, and other demonstrations.
Shira has a wealth of experience working with kids. Before making the shift into nutrition and holistic health, she taught art classes to children of all ages throughout the Bay Area for over five years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Cruz in both Art and Anthropology.
She lives with her husband Yoav and cat Max. When she is not cooking, teaching or writing she enjoys hiking though the hills, running, singing, painting and making ceramics.
